Friday's doctor visit
Great news. Emme's surgeon believes her heart has been succesfully repaired. We will know for sure after her cardiologist visit in early October. He predicts that we will have no further need to see him and that after our cardiology visit, we'll likely need a 6 month follow up and then annual appointments after that with the cardiologist.
Furthermore, assuming her stamina is there, she can go to "school" the week after next (9/17). We noticed her stamina has already improved from pre-surgery. She seems to only want one nap instead of two, she also seems really, really happy which we would like to attribute to her feeling better than she did pre-surgery.
She still has her deep cough which I thought was heart related, but the surgeon said it isn't and he's not sure why she has it. We have an appointment with the pediatrician also next month and I'll follow up with her on this and what I don't know how to describe other than a quite, deep voice (the doctor that did the standard check up in China thought she was deaf when he heard her cry at that time, but she seems to be able to hear very well). We kept thinking that's just how she was born, and that she would just have a deep voice, but we do have a concern about this in conjunction with her speaking late (which we somewhat expected being bi-lingual). Hopefully it's an unfounded concern, but we'll keep an eye on her. I would be more concerned is she wasn't such a smart kid. She knows how to asks for what she wants without words, and she's extremely curious about how the world works and is very social.

It is so absolutely great that her heart defect seems to be totally corrected!!! What a relief for all of you.
Goood Job Amelia on spelling your full name!
And, what a chunk Master Tristan is becoming.
Michael and Bianca, you have a beautiful family. Have you given any thought to taking over the baby shower blog for Tristan?

Praise God for Emme's quick healing (oh, and a slap on the back to her surgeon, too!).
What wonderful news -- and I am shocked that she has been cleared to socialize at school already. Kids are amazing in their resiliancy and quick healing.
Too bad about the cough (but thankful it's not heart related), I'm sure you'll find out what it is soon.
Thanks for the update, our family constantly thinks of yours. Congrats to the Gators, as well. Maybe we'll start rooting for them, as the Wolverines are such a huge disappointment these days!
